Thanks for the Healthcare Handout Mr Obama
By InMyOpinion on Mar 26, 2010 | In The Nation
For those of you who are attacking those rallying against the current healthcare bill, I ask you...Is it because you have your own hand out? Is it your belief that everyone has a right to free stuff from the government? Do you wish to take the easy road by drinking koolaid only from the government trough?
Shame on you. You embarrass yourselves and our country by your ignorance of our nation's history - and when you eschew hard work and self reliance over hand outs. Our founding fathers were very concerned about the natural tendency of the people to prefer handouts to hard work. They struggled mightily to develop the constitution to prevent this fine nation from becoming the kind of welfare state they saw in the Europe of their day. Their limitations on the powers allowed to the federal government SHOULD HAVE prevented getting where we are today were it not for the radical thinkers of their day and ours.
Follow up:
Their attempts at maintaining the delicate balance between tyranny (total government control) and anarchy (lawlessness) depended upon the people understanding that compassion towards the unfilled needs of the people can only be provided to the extent that it was rational and practical financially. The established separation of powers between the executive, legislative and judicial branches was to have ensured this. Yet it has been corrupted by those wishing to make America into something other than the Nation our forefathers established for us.
I fear that only serious pain will shake all of you out of your complacency. The wonderful gifts of freedom and plenty (yes, compared to many even you laze abouts have much to be grateful for) resulting from our constitutional and capitalistic society have spoiled you and made you into children again.
IF YOU CARE about this country, you would do well to learn how and WHY our forefathers wrote the constitution the way they did - Then you will understand how and why we have come to this point and fallen so far from their expectations. I recommend the book the 1981 book The Five Thousand Year Leap by W. Cleon Skousen as an excellent, fairly easy to read, primer on this subject.
AFTER you have all read this book, let's debate the merits of this health care program and then decide where you REALLY stand. Are you for or against this COUNTRY? Only then the answer to whether you are for or against this healthcare plan will be clear of the unhelpful emotion.
I stand ready to fight the good fight to return our country to one operating under the original constitution established upon the blood of many and gifted to us - not the bastardization of the constitution under which we now operate.
